10,000 samples to determine next line of action

The results of about 10,000 more samples in the coming week will determine the government’s next line of action in the fight against the outbreak of COVID-19 in Ghana, President Nana Akufo-Addo has disclosed. He says the outcome of these tests will give us a “clearer picture to enable us to take a decision on the way forward”. In a late-night televised address on Thursday, President Akufo-Addo mentioned that the results of the majority of the samples taken so far give a clear indication that the country is better positioned in terms of the number of positive cases and the level of lateral infections. “Whilst the results are encouraging in suggesting a limited number of positive cases and community spread, we expect to be able to test some ten thousand (10,000) additional samples in the coming week to give us a clearer picture to enable us to take a decision on the way forward,” he remarked. FA Cup Quarter-Final Tie

FA Cup quarter-final tie with Chelsea and  Leicester City will take place on Saturday 21 March.  In a repeat of the league meeting in the East Midlands last month, kick-off at the King Power Stadium will be at 12.30pm. The game will be broadcast live on BT Sport 1 and BT Sport Ultimate.  Ticket details will be announced in due course.  The four FA Cup quarter-final ties are all televised: Saturday 21 March Leicester City v Chelsea (12.30pm)  Newcastle United v Manchester City (7pm)  Sunday 22 March Sheffield United v Arsenal (1.30pm)  Norwich City v Manchester United (4.30pm)

Serotype X causing high CSM deaths in Upper West Serotype X; a rare subtype of Nesseria meningitides is said to be responsible for about 70 per cent of the Cerebral Spinal Meningitis (CSM) related deaths in the Upper West Region. Regional health authorities are worried as the disease has already claimed 37 lives in 13 weeks from 62 confirmed cases out of 247 suspected cases.
